Beul na Mara is an award winning guest house located on the shore of one of the most beautiful beaches in Harris, overlooking Luskentyre and Taransay Beul na Mara is an ideal place to stay, either for a winter break or summer holiday.
Mrs Catherine Morrison owns the Guest House and Self Catering Cottages. It was Catherine's mother who started what is now a family tradition, opening a bed and breakfast in the early 1960's, which then was one of the first on the Isle of Harris.
After living in Glasgow Catherine came back to her roots to carry on the long established family business. A Gaelic speaker, Catherine’s guests have benefited from her intimate knowledge of Harris, its community and all that the island has to offer.
Walkers and birdwatchers are frequent guests, whilst fishermen and anglers are spoilt for choice with fresh water lochs, salmon and Trout Rivers, not forgetting the abundant variety of fish available to the sea angler. The famous Harris Golf Course is a few minutes drive from the Guest House so visitors are truly spoilt for choice.
No matter what season or time of year photographers keep returning, captured by the stunning scenery, the white tipped mountains in crisp winter light, the contrasting colours of sea and sand on a summer evening and there is no shortage of wildlife either. But it is also the rustic charm of the Hebridean landscapes that proves irresistible to all visitors.
Beul na Mara is recognised has having met the Standard for Service and Business excellence of the Institue of Hospitality after rigorous assessment (Hospitality Assured Award)
The Guest House was also a finalist in the 'Who Cares Wins' awards for the Outer Hebrides in 2007
